Although there’s often a running joke that it’s left-leaning people who are overly sensitive, the reality is that MAGA and Trump supporters can be just as, if not more, thin-skinned when faced with criticism. A recent viral clip from Iowa proved this point perfectly. In the video, a MAGA supporter threw a tantrum over a “Trump = Hitler” sign placed by protestors on a bridge in Iowa. The man, visibly agitated, stormed up to the display and aggressively tore it apart.
When one of the women in his path tried to block him, he snapped, “Don’t touch me!” despite the fact that he had been the one to initiate the confrontation. All of the protestors present, who were women, quickly pulled out their phones and began recording the MAGA man’s bizarre meltdown. They yelled questions at him, asking why he would do something so petty, called him a “piece of sh**,” and accused him of supporting pedophiles by backing Trump. After destroying the sign, the man laughed mockingly before crossing the street toward his car, leaving the women shaking their heads at his absurd behavior.
Internet users wasted no time ridiculing the MAGA man’s behavior, pointing out that he seemed far too emotionally invested in destroying a sign that mocked Trump, not him personally. Many noted the irony that MAGA followers frequently mock liberals as “snowflakes,” yet this man’s behavior was textbook hypersensitivity.
One commenter joked, “This guy is the visual representation of small d*** energy. His feelings were hurt and he had a toddler tantrum. I feel guilty about it, but I hoped he got hit by a car at the end there.” Others suggested that the only reason he had the confidence to act out was because the protestors in Iowa were all women, implying that if there had been even one man present, the MAGA supporter might not have dared to tear the sign down. As one Reddit user put it, “Only women there. We know why he’s so brave.”
Some online users debated whether the MAGA man’s actions could be classified as assault or battery, given that he escalated the situation while simultaneously yelling “Don’t touch me!” at the women. Others mocked the hypocrisy of his complaint, pointing out how absurd it was for someone to initiate aggression and then try to play the victim.
One commenter said, “Don’t touch him!!! He’s gonna run up and assault people and then cry about being touched. Dude is lucky they aren’t as insane as he is.” Many hope that someone could identify the man and ensure he faced some kind of consequence for his childish and aggressive behavior.
