Trump and his lackeys are becoming increasingly unpopular, especially after his decision to unleash what many have described as a campaign of intimidation in Washington DC. He called it a “public safety sweep” meant to deal with crime and homelessness, but to most observers, it was clearly an attempt to spread fear and perhaps to distract from the swirling controversy surrounding the Epstein files. Life in DC has taken on an uneasy quiet.
Most residents keep their heads down, steering clear of the FBI and other federal officers, unwilling to risk a confrontation. But a few bold souls refuse to simply accept the presence of armed agents in their neighborhoods. One of those people is now the talk of social media, a Washington DC man who actually dared to throw a sandwich at an FBI agent.
The incident, captured on video and posted to Reddit, begins with the man performing a series of awkward half squats in front of a line of FBI agents. He kept it up for several seconds, perhaps limbering up for a quick getaway after whatever he was planning. After about ten seconds, the man made his move. He whipped a footlong sandwich directly at the agents. The bread smacked one agent square in the chest, and in an instant, the chase was on.
The man bolted, weaving into a crowded street as cars passed by. Despite the chaos, he managed to keep just ahead of his pursuers. The cameraman followed, laughing breathlessly, as four agents sprinted after the man in his unfortunately eye-catching bright pink shirt. Police sirens wailed in the background, adding to the absurdity of the scene. Whether or not the man was eventually caught remains unclear, but many on Reddit have celebrated him for his audacity.
One commenter wrote simply, “Eat fresh, motherf****.” Others marveled at the casual way the “sandwich man” jogged away from the FBI agents. His pace was hardly a sprint, more like a leisurely half trot, yet the agents never seemed to close the gap.
One Reddit user quipped, “He’s at like half trot, too. Could obviously gas them whenever. I always found it funny when my PE teacher told me I’d done more than it takes to become a cop almost every day in school. I’m not insanely athletic, it’s just a test most obese people can pass. Nothing wrong with weight, but in this context, it’s too funny.”
Others joked about the agents having to file an official report. “If this goes to trial,” one user wrote, “the cop will have to get on the stand and talk about how getting hit with a sandwich traumatized him.”
