Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus & More Delayed To 2024

The prophesied day is upon us, we shall sling webs once more.

Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2 was easily one of the best releases of 2023, and although it was packed with a respectable amount of features, some things were amiss. Fans were quite vocal about the lack of New Game Plus in the release version of Spider-Man 2, but most people wouldn’t want to replay the game soon after launch. Insomniac’s original plan was to release a feature update for Spider-Man 2 before the end of 2023 that brings everything fans have been asking for.

But now it seems that may not be possible as Insomniac has decided to delay the New Game Plus feature update for Spider-Man 2 into early 2024. This shouldn’t be a problem because Insomniac is known for keeping a high bar for quality, and will release it when it is worthwhile. The original Spider-Man and Miles Morales got some of the best post-launch support in the industry, and Spider-Man 2 should not be too different.

Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus Feature Update

That is not all, as fans will be happy to know that there is also some good news here as well. The developers will not only use the time to polish up New Game Plus but also work on other features for Spider-Man 2. Some of these features include Mission Select, Audio Descriptions, Day-time settings, and most interestingly, changing tendril colors. The complete list of features that will be coming with the massive update in early 2024 for Spider-Man 2 will be confirmed once we get closer to release.

The tendril color settings stand out because previously only one suit allowed players to change the colors of webbing and tendrils, and these options should make things a lot more cohesive with the large list of suits.

Although Spider-Man 2 did not win Game of the Year, it was nominated for the highly coveted spot at this year’s Game Awards. It is easily one of the best superhero games ever made, and will only get better from here. Insomniac is now hard at work at the upcoming Wolverine game and should have more to share on that during 2024.
