What Stories Are In Marvel’s Voices: Identity?

Marvel’s Voices: Identity features four variant covers. Each cover goes with one of the stories in the issue. Up first is “Secrets” from writer Pornsak Pichetshote and artist Creees Lee. This story follows Shang-Chi and Jimmy Woo on a vital mission that takes some unexpected turns.

“Jimmy Woo and Shang-Chi are two of Marvel’s highest-profile, non-superpowered Asian heroes,” says Pichetshote. “I was instantly drawn to the things they had in common, as well as the surprising things that set them apart.” Artist Lee added that “the main inspiration for this story definitely made it more fun and interesting.”

Next, Shang-Chi will also be featured in “Fool Me Twice” by Sabir Pirzada and Eric Koda. This story sees the Asian hero teaming up with Ms. Marvel in a tale that explores the AAPI heroes’ differences and similarities. Writer Pirzada shared their excitement for the story saying, “I could not be more excited to be back.” They continued to say that they were excited to explore “two of the most iconic heroes among Asian Americans who have very different life experiences.”

What Else Is In This Issue?

In addition, Jeremy Holt and Kei Zama are taking on Guardian of the Galaxy’s Mantis in “The Primeval Paradox.” This Marvel’s Voices story dives into the fascinating past of this character and what might be in her future. “I was excited for the opportunity to reintroduce an original Avenger to the fans,” Holt shared. He is excited to showcase how extraordinary Mantis is.

Finally, Emily Kim and Rickie Yagawa put Wong front and center in “While You Were Out.” This exciting solo adventure will offer more about the character. After all, Wong is a fan favorite, but not much is known about him. Writer Kim jumped at the opportunity to explore what it means to be a “sidekick” and how that ties into Asian representation in media.

Marvel’s Voices: Identity #1 is available for preorder now. It hits shelves on May 25.
