If you’ve ever been to Massachusetts, then you know all about how incredible the public transportation is. Really, that isn’t a joke. As someone who lived in South Florida for most of their lives, I genuinely grew up thinking that public transportation was only for those who were desperate because it was just so terrible. In fact, I didn’t think that there were even places in the United States where people actually enjoyed using their public buses.
However, one fan of the MBTA, Massachusetts’ transit system, has decided to make a 1:1 replica of the entirety of Boston in Roblox. Yup, you should expect to be able to take the bus from station to station and, from the looks of it, will also be able to enjoy riding on the various trains. Honestly, I’ll admit that I can’t tell if this is meant to be a Roblox game or a government-funded simulation.
The experience, aptly titled New England Bus Simulator, is being developed by longtime Roblox user @ill91. The developer is also part of a collection of various transportation-like simulation games on the platform, including Main South: Teleportation Place. The collective of Boston-based simulation games is known on the platform as the New England Transit Association.
“Put me in the sim and I’ll speed run this game”
Upon release, players will be expected to drive particular routes in order to earn in-game miles, earn cash to purchase better buses and wraps, and even limited passes to features such as Transit Police! Personally, I’m very excited to jump in and see if there will be players actively trying to roleplay as Bostonians.
