Meghan Markle comes under fire after yet another attempt at showbiz success hits the rocks despite heightened anticipation leading up to her lifestyle rebrand, and Netflix show. The Duchess of Sussex launched her Netflix cooking show on March 4, delivering on the promise to share cooking, gardening, and hosting tips amid fun gatherings with friends. However, the series fell short on viewership, garnering significantly lesser numbers than her and Harry’s 2022 documentary Harry & Meghan. Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown believes this less-than-impressive output stems from Meghan Markle’s impatience, which invariably caused her to miss the mark completely with her new show despite having everything at her disposal.
According to RadarOnline, the 71-year-old recently trashed the Duchess, her new show and her rebrand efforts in a brutal review on her Substack newsletter. Sharing her sincere take on Meghan Markle, Tina Brown described her as “too impatient.” The Vanity Fair editor believes the actress-turned-royal has been “behind the curve” with her latest efforts, depicting how much of a flop her post-royal life has become.
Tina Brown Criticizes Meghan Markle Following Flopped Rebrand

In her brutal review, Brown criticized Markle as having an “unerring instinct for getting it wrong,” seemingly referring to the choices the Suits alum has made in the last five years. She added,
“What a flaming flop the last five years have been.”
Going further, the royal expert pointed out that despite her years in the spotlight, Markle remains unable to figure out “a convincing persona.” That, coupled with being “too damn impatient” have all contributed to keeping Markle and her brand behind the curve. Brown fired,
“Who announces a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and hounds celebrity friends to talk up her strawberry jam on social media, without doing due diligence on the availability of the trademark?”
Further slamming Meghan Markle’s Netflix show and lifestyle rebrand, Tina Brown explained that the Kitchen show came at the wrong time because “Trump’s America” would give such content no room to thrive. According to the editor, Markle opted to release her show “about fake perfection” just when “the zeitgeist has turned raucously against it.” Explaining further, the royal expert suggested that Donald Trump’s administration only favored certain influencers who fall in line with his “foulmouthed and disheveled cultural” America.
Why Brown Feels Baffled By Harry and Meghan’s Megxit

Given these setbacks, Tina Brown believes Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stood to gain a lot more had they decided to remain working royals rather than quit to collaborate with Netflix. Brown admittedly failed to understand the reasoning behind the couple’s decision to step back from their royal duties, leave the UK and pursue the American dream in what is widely referred to as “Megxit.” To her, a better outcome for Markle would have been to stay silent rather than voice her woes, bidding her time until the immense benefits of royalty land on her feet. Brown divulged,
“All Meghan had to do was shut up and wait. Go quiet for a couple of years, start a family, keep her eyes trained on the splendid royal estate that would soon come up for grabs. The Moment William ascended to his role as Prince of Wales, there would have been new global gigs and red carpet roll-outs raining down on the Susexes’ heads. But no. Offered the Commonwealth or Netflix, the Sussexes, with naïve avarice, chose Netflix.”
Tina Brown is just one of many who have cast daggers at Meghan Markle following the release of her long-anticipated Netflix show, on the day of her official As Ever rebrand. The duchess first announced her decision to rebrand her lifestyle business, from the initial America Riviera Orchard, to a more globally-friendly As Ever. The announcement sparked widespread frenzy, with millions criticizing Markle’s seeming inconsistencies, and inability to stick to one game plan. Commendably, neither Markle nor her husband Prince Harry has allowed these criticisms to hold them back, as they continue to make career moves, gradually carving their path in Hollywood.
