Meghan Markle wants to tie up all the loose ends before commencing her American Riviera Orchard brand. The Duchess of Sussex pleaded that the US patent office gives her more time to correct her trademark application errors. Meghan first applied for the trademark for her lifestyle brand in the summer but was rejected in August. Prince Harry‘s wife was reportedly given three months to rectify the errors in the filing, which has now run out.
Following the exhaustion of the timeline, Meghan has asked for another three-month window to put things in order. Her initial lodging with the US Patent and Trademark Office was dismissed due to incorrect filing. Additionally, the application needed to be signed, and she was reportedly required to send more funds to begin the trademark process. As if all that was not enough, another firm with the trademark Royal Riviera also picked a bone with Markle’s application.
The institution was reportedly established in 1934, with annual sales of ยฃ 1.7 billion and 3,300 staff. Last August, she ditched trademarking her podcast Archewell after USPTO discovered a blog by the same name had already applied. The Sussexes have reportedly ‘struggled’ to find a CEO for Meghan’s new home and lifestyle venture. However, sources close to the Duchess have insisted she is happy running the business, per Daily Mail.
Meghan Markle Catches Flak for Her ‘Priorities’
Meghan’s new situation has since caught the attention of internet users, who have always remained divided over her affairs. A commenter, who is certainly not a fan of the actress bashes her for “Always looking for privileges,” while someone else seemed to have issues with her priorities, writing:
“If Meghan had put as much effort into her brand as she does into photo ops, maybe she wouldn’t be scrambling for extra time to fix her trademark. Priorities seem a little mixed up!”
Another blamed her for refusing to correct the errors within the stipulated time despite knowing “exactly what the issues are.” Meghan’s famous “5 am” work ethic also came under fire, as this fan claimed she does not work hard. This user urged brand executives to start saying “no” to her, adding, “Maybe then she will go away.” Another commenter simply wondered why she did not fill “the form incorrectly at the start.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reportedly Using ‘Professional Separation’ as Promotion for Brand
Although the couple’s recent arrangement of solo sightings seems worrying, there is reportedly a silver lining. We reported that commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believes the separation may be a PR move. According to Fitzwilliams, the couple may be deliberately feeding the narrative to boost Meghan’s brand. The expert referred to their initial attempts at visibility for Meghan, including their recent visits to Nigeria and Colombia.
He noted that going solo is the next trick for the mogul couple to maintain their social profile. In steadfast commitment to their new decision, Meghan was noticeably absent at the latest Invictus Games in Canada. Harry has also traveled solo to New York for Climate Week and South Africa this last quarter. He was also present as a guest attendee at the WellChild Awards in the UK.
Like Harry, Meghan made a solo red-carpet appearance at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles 2024 gala. The actress also attended the launch of her friend’s haircare line as a solo guest. However, despite their professional separation, they still have joint appearances to fulfill. The couple is due to attend the 2025 Invictus Games in Canada.
They have attended the event together each year since 2017 before tying the knot in 2018. Prince Harry plays an important role as the noble Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation. Like previous years, Markle joined her husband in February for an Invictus Games promotional event in Vancouver.
