Melania Insists on ‘Very Different Transition’ After ‘Challenging’ First Time in White House With Donald Trump: ‘I Didn’t Have Much Support’

What would change?

Melania Trump will perform the duties of First Lady on her own terms. With less than a week to Donald Trump‘s inauguration, Melania unveiled plans for her return to the White House. Things will be “different” this time around, she says. During an appearance on Fox & Friends, Melania revealed she is more prepared for her second stint as First Lady. “The first time was challenging. We didn’t have much information,” she recalled, blaming the former administration for withholding information.

“But this time I have everything…So it’s a very different transition this time, second time around.”

However, the transition into the White House isn’t the only change for her husband’s second presidency. When asked if she was in a “different space” in 2017 compared to now, Melania answered:

“I feel I was always me the first time as well. I just feel that people didn’t accept me. They didn’t understand me the way they do now. I didn’t have much support.”

The Slovenia native continued, “Some people see me as just the wife of the president, but I’m standing on my own two feet. Independent. I have my own thoughts.” Melania alluded to living a separate life from Donald, saying she doesn’t “always agree” with her husband her husband says or does.

The 54-year-old confessed she tries to give the Apprentice star some advice. “Sometimes he listens, sometimes he doesn’t. And that’s okay,” she said with a smile. As part of her independent nature, Melania confirmed that the White House won’t be her primary residence.

“I will be in the White House, and when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. But my first priority is, you know, is to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife, and once we are in on Jan. 20, you serve the country.”

The interview with Fox & Friends only confirms previous reports of her unusual second tenure. Following Donald’s election win in November, reports claimed Melania will return as a “part-time First Lady.” A Mar-a-Lago insider alleged Melania’s primary focus is her son, Barron Trump, as she wants to be with him in New York as much as possible. He is currently enrolled at NYU’s Stern School of Business. Fans, however, think she only uses her son as an excuse to stay away from Donald. Some even went as far as to suggest she is planning a divorce.

Melania clearly didn’t acknowledge the divorce rumors in her interview. However, she continues to separate her identity from her husband.
