We all have to admit a new trailer for Konami’s remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, was unexpected, especially the reveal of the new game engine. During today’s Xbox Partner Preview, we saw how the game will look when it launches. Since it is a remake, we all were hoping for a graphical update; however, we didn’t expect something as significant as what we saw. Fans of the series will instantly recognize the areas shown in the latest trailer, and many can agree that, so far, nothing has changed in terms of layouts.

The first teaser we saw for Snake Eater’s remake already looked great, but it wasn’t the game’s native graphics. We hadn’t seen any from the in-game engine until today. The almost 2-minute trailer showcases Naked Snake mainly in the game’s first section, right before rescuing Sokolov. We saw the iconic bridge part, the insertion point, and even the factory where the scientist is. Those with keen eyes might’ve seen other areas that appear after the game’s opening credits. So far, we can say Konami is on the right track, and this might be what redeems its reputation after the Master Collection’s disappointment.

It’s still uncertain when the game will launch, but with this glimpse, we can’t wait for it. Even if the graphics look great and other elements seem unchanged, time will tell if the developers stick to the original feel and idea made by Hideo Kojima. So far, though, it seems going for Unreal Engine 5 was the right choice.

With such an influential game in their hands, dropping the ball would be unforgivable. Yet, this latest trailer surely won some people back, as we can’t stress enough how great it looks. If you missed it, here’s the video showing future graphical updates coming to Konami’s remake: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
