There are so many celebrities who are in age-gap relationships. Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, and Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are just a few of the most famous examples. But did you know that Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando are in one, too? The “Flowers” singer discussed their age difference on the latest Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast episode, where she joked about being a “cougar.”

Sorry We’re Cyrus is a weekly podcast hosted by Miley Cyrus’ older sister, Brandi Cyrus, and her mother, Tish Cyrus. New episodes drop on Thursdays. This week, the pop star appeared on the show to promote her newest album, Something Beautiful, which she released in May. Apart from music, the trio touched on all things health, fitness, and relationships throughout the 95-minute-long discussion.
While reflecting on their love lives, Brandi brought up the fact that all three women are older than their partners. “What does it say about the three of us that, technically, we are all cougars?” she asked. “So many things,” Miley replied.
Tish said she never realized they all had that in common since their age differences with their partners aren’t that noticeable. Brandi (38) is just two years older than her boyfriend, Matt Southcombe (36), while Tish (58) is just three years older than her husband, Dominic Purcell (55). Since Miley Cyrus (32) and Maxx Morando (26) have the largest age gap, the Disney Channel alum called herself “the landslide” of the group.
Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando Have A Six-Year Age Difference
The couple is officially six years apart. However, Miley said that sometimes they’re just four years apart since they’re birthdays are so close together. Miley was born on Nov. 23, 1992, while her boyfriend was born on Nov. 16, 1998. While she and Morando have spent several birthdays together, Miley is especially looking forward to their festivities this year since she thinks it’ll be a big one for Morando. “He will be 27 when I turn 33,” Cyrus said. “I’m so excited for him to turn 27 ‘cause that was such a great year for me.” She added, “That’s right when I started turning my life around.”
Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando were first romantically linked in 2021. The singer first hinted at their relationship when she mentioned Morando in a Vogue interview that September. Two months later, the pair attended a Gucci event together, sparking dating rumors. They were photographed posting together on the red carpet, as well as holding hands. While fans were convinced they were an item, their romance wasn’t officially confirmed until March 2022.
At the time, Us Weekly reported that Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando were still “getting to know each other.” Although their relationship was still in its early stages, the outlet said they were having a lot of “fun” together.
Flash forward to 2025, and now the couple has been together for four years. This marks Miley’s most serious relationship since her split from Liam Hemsworth. The pair were in an on-and-off relationship for a decade before they got married in December 2018. After less than a year of being husband and wife, the two announced their breakup in August 2019. Their divorce was finalized in January 2020.
