Millie Bobby Brown sure knows how to keep a secret. Nearly a year after tying the knot with Jake Bongiovi, the Stranger Things actress opened up about how she was able to keep her wedding dress under wraps until the big day came around. Apparently, all it took was some clever thinking and a bit of acting.
Millie Bobby Brown’s Wedding Dress Almost Got Leaked Online
Millie Bobby Brown recalled the hilarious story during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The star said her wedding planning went smoothly until she went in for her final dress fitting. She was trying on her dress at a shop in New York City when she noticed a person recording her outside. Naturally, she grew anxious that the tabloid would leak photos of her dress online, and Bongiovi would see it. “I was so terrified,” she said.
So, to prevent that from happening, Brown came up with a plan to stage paparazzi photos. She picked a decoy dress that was completely opposite from her real one and stood right in front of the window where the tabloid could see it and snap pictures. Brown then pretended to get emotional so the person would think they had caught her making her final decision when, in reality, her actual dress was hiding in the back.
In the end, her plan was a success. The paparazzi shared the staged photos of Millie Bobby Brown’s wedding dress online, leading them to go viral. “She got the whole thing, and it sold,” the actress said. Brown thought it was amusing that the tabloid was convinced they got “quality” pictures when they were all staged. “I tricked you!” she said.
Fallon praised Brown’s acting performance, which she called “the best of my career.”
Fans also applauded Brown for her quick thinking. “The dress thing was such a genius trick,” one person commented. “I got tricked, too,” another fan wrote.

Marrying Jake Bongiovi
Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi had two wedding ceremonies. News broke that the couple secretly tied the knot in May 2024. They first exchanged vows in the United States. According to The Sun, it was a “low-key, romantic affair” with only their closest family members present. Months later, the pair held a second wedding in Tuscany, Italy, in October. It was supposedly more extravagant than their first celebration.
Millie Bobby Brown’s wedding dress incident happened before her nuptials in Italy. The actress was photographed shopping at Galia Lahav’s bridal boutique last July. The dress she was caught trying on, which fans now know was just a decoy, was a form-fitting strapless gown covered in sparkles. It was super flashy. Meanwhile, her actual dress offered a more classy look.
