Minnesota Shopper Makes Wild Target Theft Confession: ‘How Worried Should I Be?’

Easy Target

The internet has become a place for many people to get their problems off their chests. However, some people opt to share far too much about when it comes to their dark secrets. One Minnesota person decided to share something very personal about themselves with the world after becoming increasingly worried about a nasty habit they’ve acquired. The person admitted that they had been stealing frequently from a local Target store and have started to think better of it.

The Minnesota native told their story on the Legal Advice Reddit this week. The social media user decided to come clean to the strangers on the forum and also ask for some advice about whether or not they should be worried about legal repercussions in the future.

The post revealed that the shoplifter has “made a habit out of shoplifting small items” from Target. However, they believed they were in the clear because they read somewhere that Target stores don’t pursue charges against thieves until the amount climbs to around $1,500. They admitted to recently stealing a $20 pair of shorts and had the “gates buzz” at them. Now, the small-time criminal is asking the internet, “How worried should I be?”

While a $20 pair of shorts likely won’t land this Reddit user behind bars, others on the forum warned the poster about the criminal activity. Some claimed that Target stores are very good at spotting shoplifters and may be waiting for them to return and steal again before making their move.

“You should be worried and assume that Target knows everything you stole and is just waiting. Never do that again,” one person wrote in the comment section.

“You should be worried. This is a bad habit to have,” another frankly stated.

“Target is SERIOUS about their loss prevention. Did you use cash or card when paying?” a third person asked.

“Target in particular does NOT play around. Also the $1.5k is not all in one go. They’ll create a profile on you and let it slide until you reach that amount, then they’ll arrest you,” a fourth comment read.

“So all of these places have cameras for a reason, theyโ€™ll track your face / payment methods and wait until you accumulate enough stolen merchandise to hit a prosecutable amount. I donโ€™t know how much youโ€™ve taken so far but you should know that youโ€™re already on a hit list after the first run,” another advised.

It seems that fellow Reddit users offered the poster some great advice, and encouraged her to stop her bad habit before it went too far, or ended with an embarrassing arrest.
