Minnesota Woman Faces Backlash After Hitting Child at Walmart: ‘Poor Kid’

It’s good that they stopped her.

When you are taking your kid with you somewhere, you are supposed to be prepared for them to cry or grow upset. After all, they are children who might not enjoy the noise around them. Well, a Minnesota woman didn’t get the memo about how she should treat her kid while outside. She was caught by two other women hitting her daughter, not caring that it’s wrong or that they are in a public place like Walmart. People were rightfully angry at how the Minnesota woman behaved. One person, however, for some reason, thought that the two women shouldn’t have intervened.

Just a freakout at Bloomington Walmart.

In the video, the Minnesota woman is filming the two other women who are confronting her. The video doesn’t show her hitting her daughter, but you get to understand it from the context. While the voice isn’t that clear due to the two women speaking at the same time, you can hear some things. One of them told the Minnesota woman, “Imma smack that s**t outchu.” You can also hear the cashier telling them to “calm down.” One would assume that the Minnesota woman would be too ashamed to film them confronting her. It’s like she doesn’t see that she did anything wrong by hitting her daughter. While we can’t see the end of the confrontation, it’s still a good thing that the two women stood up for the kid.

People Reacting to the Minnesota Woman’s Actions

Most people were upset by what went down and even glad that the two women stepped in. One person wrote, “Poor kid. The cycle continues..” Another person mocked the event by saying, “Happy Mother’s Day.” Since the two women also had kids with them, someone felt sorry for all the kids involved. “poor kids look extremely anxious,” they wrote. Someone else, however, came to the Minnesota woman’s defense. They wrote:

“Looks like the person recording hit their own child because they weren’t behaving in Walmart because the lady in the dress said ‘you hit your baby’ so the two women were upset at how another woman was disciplining her child as if it was their child to begin with.”

It wasn’t enough for them to stop at that because they kept going when someone told them, “I mean, if it was abusive, I can see why they’d step in.” They then wrote in response, “And surely there’d be a better way than saying ‘Imma smack that phone out your hand’, which is considered assault, so that doesn’t necessarily cancel out the supposed ‘abuse’. If it were me, I would mention it to staff and not put myself in the middle.” There is nothing right about hitting a child for whatever reason. Children need to be protected, not to be hit under the guise of “discipline.” I hope that the Minnesota woman learnt her lesson.
