Political divisions within the USA continue to skyrocket daily, and social media influencers have been quick to speak out on both sides. TikTok creator @jeremyfranklinmitsubishi is one of several channels against right-wing agendas. They recently reported on an immigration scandal that is taking the internet news world by storm. A Maverik gas station in Springfield, Missouri posted a sign stating “company policy” no longer acknowledges Green Cards as valid identification. The channel’s creator, who also goes by “dotte daughter” had a lot to say.
Dotte daughter called Maverik’s blatant refusal to accept a “federal form of identification” for those making gas station purchases. They went on to call the decision a “clear, clear example of anti-immigrant rhetoric,” as well as a civil rights violation.
In their short video clip, they cite the Southern Missouri Immigration Alliance as their source of information. They also claim “discrimination on the basis of identity” is nothing new in Springfield, although the racists living there are getting more brazen and no longer hiding it.
Maveriks In Missouri Are Anti-Mexican
The video ends with @jeremyfranklinmitsubishi stating, “No Mexicans. No immigrants. Mexicans, immigrants, get out. That’s what they’re saying.” Shortly after posting it, they did a second TikTok calling for a Maverik boycott. There, they reviewed current policies regarding the usage of Green Cards for valid identification in Missouri state.
Comments on both videos were full of disgust and dismay. Once viewer stated, “Thank you for talking about this. It’s so devastating that after all the work accomplished during the civil rights movement we are back to segregation. We will have to build again, and Mexicans are not new immigrants.”
One thing is for certain: the racism spreading all over the United States doesn’t stop with hatred for Mexican immigrants, but it most definitely regards them with disdain.
