Mortal Kombat 1 Has MK Deception’s Hara-Kiri Hidden In Its Files

It’s not Quitality

As a nod to the 2D era, Mortal Kombat 1 introduced a secret fight, and fans loved it. But, how about another salute, this time to the 3D era of MK? Data miners have been splitting the game to pieces in the past couple of weeks, discovering the unreleased Kombat Pack 3 character designs first and now they’ve dug deep into finding full animations of every Mortal Kombat 1 character’s Hara-Kiri move! May the Elder Gods forgive us.

In the latest discovery by the data mining community of the MK1, a user has uploaded every Hara-Kiri finisher move available for the characters in the game. The post is currently available on Reddit, neither WB nor NetherRealm Studios have taken any actions towards it. Take a look:

Hara-Kiri is a Japanese term that basically stands for disemboweling yourself to keep your honor after defeat or something along those lines. Introduced as a Fatality move in Mortal Kombat: Deception back in 2004, the defeated player could use Hara-Kiri to end themselves before the opponent tore them to pieces. And as you can see, the animation above is how it’s done in Mortal Kombat 1.

Now the video doesn’t exactly show the players reaching the finisher stage of the match, meaning that Mortal Kombat 1 might just allow the players to use Hara-Kiri when they’re low on health instead. This type of Fatality is not available in the game right now and it could be a part of a future update. Or maybe, the developers have scrapped the piece for some reason; no idea.

It’s worth mentioning that every single character has their own Hara-Kiri move as seen in the video above in Mortal Kombat 1. This isn’t the same as what we already have in the game called Quitality. That’s for when your opponent leaves during an online match and the Quitality animations are not unique per-kombatant. So, it’s something new and it’s up in the air what Master Boon has in mind for them.
