Money isn’t everything, but it sure is a lot when you’re trying to survive in a desert filled with monsters. Grinding for resources and cash is something of a tradition in crafting sims, but you don’t have to suffer to make money in My Time at Sandrock. With so many ways to earn Gols, you can pretty much pursue whatever activity you enjoy the most while still fattening your purse. Whether you have your eyes on some pricy clothes, are trying to buy some new inventory space, or just want to keep up with daily expenses, money matters in this struggling oasis. Here are the best ways to make money in My Time at Sandrock, ranked from good to fantastic.
5. Complete Quests
My Time at Sandrock takes place in a desert, but that doesn’t mean there’s no life. The town is bustling with people, and there’s always something going on, especially early in the game when everything is new. The townspeople are excited to have a new Builder around, and they aren’t shy about asking you for help. That’s good news if you want to get some easy Gols. If you’re looking to make money fast in My Time at Sandrock, open your map and look for the blue exclamation marks that indicate side missions. Even when they don’t immediately pay off with a pile of Gols, they often open the door to other money-making opportunities.
4. Choose the Right Skills
Like other RPGs, My Time at Sandrock includes skill trees. The more activities you complete, the higher your level will climb, and the more points you can put into your skills. If your goal is to make a fortune, you need to prioritize certain skills. Treasure Knowledge is a good choice, as it highlights treasure chests on your map. At Level 2, it also grants a 10% chance to get a large amount of Gols when opening a chest. You earn skill points at a decent rate but not fast enough to unlock everything quickly, so you’ll need to pair this strategy with other money-making methods. Whenever you earn a skill point, take a moment to check out all of your options before committing. Your wallet will thank you.
3. Sell Items
Sandrock is a bustling town with shopkeepers selling everything from clothing to ceramics. That’s great if you need to buy a new scarf, but it’s even better if you need to sell some excess goods. Like similar games in this genre, My Time at Sandrock floods you with resources. Everything from stones and gems to toys and furniture fits in your pocket, and you can sell pretty much all of it. Inventory space is generous too, so it’s easy to carry a ton of stuff into town to sell. Though it’s a good idea to hang on to a handful of each item in case you get a surprise commission or someone needs a unique gift, you should sell everything else if you want to line your pockets.
2. Go Mining
From Harvest Moon to Stardew Valley, breaking rocks has been part of many of the genre’s best games. What should be a mind-numbing annoyance is somehow fun and profitable instead. You gain access to the Eufaula Salvage Abandoned Ruins early in the game, and mines remain useful throughout your playthrough. Whether you’re just a few hours in or are looking for a way to make money after finishing the main story, the mines are an excellent way to earn some Gols with relatively little effort. Within them, you’ll find a variety of harvestable resources. Even Copper and Tin, two of the earliest you’ll find in the game, sell for solid money if you mine enough of them.
1. Complete Commissions
Arguably the best way to make money in My Time at Sandrock is through commissions. At first, you’ll only earn a couple of hundred Gols from each commission. The more you complete, however, the more your workshop will rise in the ranks. Higher rankings grant access to far more profitable jobs. Ideally, you should take on as many commissions as you can handle. Doing so will make you a ton of money. It’ll also grant valuable XP and improve your relationships with the townspeople. Sandrock might be a desert, but it’s also a complex ecosystem. Making progress in one area often has ripple effects. Thankfully, those ripples tend to make you richer.
