Similar to fuel for car engines, many of your crafting machines in My Time at Sandrock will require Water to operate. The desert environment of Sandrock is hot and dry, and if your machinery doesn’t have Water, they will overheat, leaving them temporarily out of order. With so many construction projects and complex components to assemble, ensuring your crafting stations are always running is essential, especially when you’re away from your workshop. That said, there are two primary sources of Water in My Time at Sandrock.
There are two main methods of obtaining water in My Time at Sandrock:
- Craft Water using a raw resource known as Dew.
- Purchase Water from Water World, a shop near the city’s oasis, east of the Civil Corps.
How To Get Dew in Sandrock
You can get Dew in My Time at Sandrock from logs and bushes around your workshop. Yakthorn and Yellow Lavender bushes are a good source during the early game. As you upgrade your Axe, Deadwood trees and logs on the ground can provide even more Dew. Be careful not to cut down any cactuses or living Boxtrees, as chopping them down will result in a penalty.
Once you unlock and assemble the Dew Collector, you can collect Dew conveniently beside your home. This workstation’s blueprint is acquired by giving eight Data Discs to Qi at the Research Center. After several days, you’ll receive the schematics via mail. Once your Dew Collector has been built and placed, it will collect and store up to 20 stacks of Dew at a time.
Use 10 stacks of Dew you’ve gathered via foraging or your collector to craft one unit of Water in Sandrock. If you buy Level 2 Water Conservation in your Knowledge Workshop skill tree, you’ll only need 8 Dew to make one Water. Since the Mass Production skill node locks this upgrade, you’ll need multiple Workshop skill points to reach this level. You also must be at least Level 5 to access the Knowledge skill trees.
How To Buy Water from Water World
Water can also be purchased from Water World, a shop near Arvio’s House and the Civil Corps building. The first 25 units of Water are sold to you at a standard low. Once this stock is sold out, the price drastically increases. The market price and your progress in the main story also influence this price difference. For instance, we visited Water World and purchased 25 units of Water at 69 Gols for five stacks (the Market Price was -8%). Once we bought it all, the price then hiked up to 276 Gols for five units—a massive boost in cost.
Once you get Water for your Water Tank, interact with it to view your Water consumption each hour. Click on Adjust, then use the slider to choose how much Water you want to insert. If your tank runs out of Water, your machines will overheat and halt production until the tank’s been refilled. That said, remember to frequently check on your workshop’s Water Tank, especially when you notice a red, cross-outed water droplet symbol above your crafting stations.
