This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

If you are familiar with My Time at Portia, you may already know that wood was one of the most helpful resources for fuel consumption and crafting. In My Time at Sandrock, while you have alternative fuel sources available, wood is still crucial for building and crafting. The added obstacle of being penalized for chopping down trees makes obtaining wood in the long-awaited sequel more challenging.

How to Get Wood in My Time at Sandrock

Sandrock Wood Pile

While trees may seem like a go-to answer for getting wood, it, unfortunately, is not a viable option in My Time at Sandrock. This is due to the new penalty system that prevents you from cutting down cactuses and boxtrees. Fortunately, there are still multiple options available for obtaining wood in My Time at Sandrock:

  1. Harvest from wooden junk piles or bushes and use the Recycler to process the scraps
  2. Chop down Deadwood trees or logs
  3. Purchase from Water World

When you start your playthrough and initiate the tutorial, one of your first tasks will involve getting wood from a wooden junk pile. Throughout your playthrough, you’ll randomly find these around your workshop and can harvest these piles for wood. Additionally, some woodpiles and scraps give you the Wooden Scrap item, which you can use in your Recycler to get more wood. Furthermore, both Sand Flowers and Yakthorn bushes also drop wood.

After upgrading your axe, you’ll be able to chop down Deadwood trees and logs. You will not receive a penalty for chopping down these trees. Upon breaking them, you’ll receive Wood and Hardwood. You can find a patch of Deadwood trees west of your workshop, just south of the oasis.

Sandrock Water World Wood

If you have some extra Gols to spend and need some extra wood, you can also purchase some from Water World. This shop is near the oasis, east of the Civil Corps. Depending on the Market Price percentage, the price of wood will generally average between 25-35 Gols for every five wood.
