With the NBA 2K League season three having been postponed from its original start date in just a few days, the league has decided to host a tournament anyways. The Three For All Showdown will feature teams of three competing online for part of a $25,000 prize pool.

The first stage of the tournament will feature 32 fan-organized teams playing on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Each console will have its own unique bracket during the tournament. Hopeful competitors can sign up for this fan bracket starting March 23. This stage will be held from March 27-29.

Once the fan bracket is out of the way, things really start to heat up. The second stage of the Three For All Showdown will feature three-player teams selected from NBA 2K League franchises, top female NBA 2K players, social media influencers, and the top teams from the fan bracket.

Each series leading up to the championship game for each bracket will be best out of three games. The championship matches will be extended to the best out of five.

Out of the $25,000 prize pool, $15,000 will be available to the non-NBA 2K League teams in the second stage, while $9,000 is set aside for the NBA 2K League teams in the tournament. The winning Xbox One and PlayStation 4 teams in the first round will each get $500.

There were a number of changes ready to be made going into season three of the NBA 2K League. This Three For All Showdown was not one of them. Coronavirus has been disrupting many lives and events, including esports. Necessity is the mother of invention, of course, and it’s neat to see the NBA 2K League try to evolve into something that can continue to thrive through this crisis.

Those fans looking to enjoy the tournament but not compete can watch the matchups on the NBA 2K League Twitch and YouTube channels.
