Last year, Netflix allowed IOS and Android users to download shows and movies from their mobile app so that they could then watch their downloaded titles offline. The streaming service is now giving Windows 10 users the same ability as they did for their mobile users. This addition is great news that the company is continuing to move forward with new perks for their customers.

As Netflix did with Android and the IOS, Windows 10 will only have a select number of titles available to download for offline viewing. Of course, the huge selection of original titles that Netflix has released over the years will be available for download. That includes the popular show, Stranger Things, the critically acclaimed House of Cards, the newly released film, The Discovery; and many more of users’ original favorites. But, like with the Android and IOS, users won’t just be given access to originals, they’ll also be given the ability to download other titles as well. This includes shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and Bates Motel; and movies like Memento, the Jurrasic Park trilogy, and Nightcrawler. Whatever genre you’re into, Netflix has a title for you to watch on the go.

The update went live a few days ago and can only be found in the app version of Netflix for Windows 10. If you try and go on the Netflix website to download a title, then it won’t work for you. MAC users will probably be the next lot of people to have this option available to them. I can’t imagine why not, considering other Apple devices like the iPhone and iPad have this service readily available to them. Either way, allowing users the option to download and watch titles offline can be very useful to those traveling–especially by plane.

The offline viewing service is at no extra cost to users and comes included with the monthly subscription price. Who needs that portable DVD player nowadays when you’ve got your PC? Netflix has answered that question.
