If you’re a PC gamer, you’ve almost definitely used Steam before. Depending on the games you play, you might even use it exclusively, given how far-reaching the platform has become over the years. You might even use Steam if you’re not a PC gamer, given how many console games from Xbox and PlayStation have been ported to Steam for PC recently. However, if you’re a PlayStation user coming to Steam and hoping to keep your controller the same, you would have been out of luck. However, a new update means PlayStation gamers are in luck with new controller support added to the Steam store.

If you prefer to use a controller over a keyboard when browsing the Steam store, up until now you would have been limited to using an Xbox controller. However, with PlayStation solidly on the bandwagon for bringing console games to PC, the store has just rolled out a new update that, among other things, adds support for PlayStation controllers when browsing the Steam store. On top of that, the update includes support for both DualShock and the newest DualSense controllers, which is nice if you’re not up to date on the latest PlayStation tech.

Along with integrating PlayStation controller support, Steam’s new update also includes an option for users to choose their controller at login, thereby making the store experience that much more tailored. The controller support is also available in Big Picture Mode, and new store filters have been added to allow users to filter by device compatibility. Additionally, each store page now allows game developers to indicate which games are best played with a controller using the “Controller Recommended” tag. If a controller is already connected to the Steam store, then the Library pages will also display new information on every type of controller a game is compatible with.

If you’re a Steam user and a PlayStation lover, then be sure to check out the new features as soon as you can – the Steam Autumn Sale is coming up, and you won’t want to miss out.
