Nicholas Cage is set to play a fictionalized version of himself in the upcoming film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which sees him going through exaggerated versions of some of his most famous acting roles in order to drum up a huge sum of money and escape from a seriously dangerous situation.

Nicholas Cage is set to play himself in a film about his film career – even if apparently highly fictionalized – could make for quite an interesting film. Cage has been acting since 1982 and has starred in over one hundred acting roles, ranging from roles in mainstream action films such as Kickass and the Ghost Rider franchise, as well as Oscar award-winning dramas like Adaptation. He has garnered an Oscar win and many other award nominations throughout his career, but to many people, these achievements are not what they primarily know him for. Nicholas Cage has also been known to star in quite a lot of films in general, likely due to the fact that since 2007 he has owed the US Government over $6.2 million dollars in unpaid taxes. The idea presented by The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent that Nicholas Cage may be in serious need of money and feel creatively unfulfilled may not be so far away from the reality of his real life.

The film will present Cage being stuck in a drought in his career feeling creatively blocked and hurting for money, so out of desperation, he agrees to attend the birthday party of an obsessed fan for the sum of one million dollars. Throughout the film, Cage will be badgered by another version of himself from the 1990’s – played also by him – that will mock and debase him for lowering himself to new lows by starring in too many bad movies. Cage’s caricature of himself will be seeking to land a role in a Quinton Tarantino film, all while also attempting to patch up his relationship with his teenage daughter.

Nicholas Cage is in talks to play himself in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, though there is not much else that we know for now.
