Nicole Kidman may be famously married to country music superstar Keith Urban; however, before she tied the knot with her fellow Aussie, she was married to one of the most famous actors in Hollywood, Tom Cruise. Kidman and Cruise were a Hollywood power couple, even starring in films together such as Days of Thunder, Far and Away, and Eyes Wide Shut. However, their marriage eventually crumbled and the pair got divorced in 2001. Following the split, a viral meme was born, or so fans thought.
Recently, Nicole Kidman sat down for an interview with British GQ. She was asked about that time in her life and the viral meme that seemingly stemmed from her divorce from Tom Cruise. In the photo, Kidman is wearing a sheer floral top with pink accents and three-quarter sleeves. She added a pair of sage green capri pants and sneakers. Her curly red hair is pulled back behind her head, and her arms are raised at her sides. She has her eyes closed and her mouth open as if she screaming or rejoicing in some way.
However, the Practical Magic star now says that the photo had nothing to do with her split from Cruise. Instead, she says it was from a film she worked on, which had no bearing on her real life.

“That’s not true. That was not me. That was from a film. That wasn’t real life. I know that image,” she stated.
Over the years, the meme has become a hit. It’s often used by fans looking to share their relief about certain situations. Most recently, it was posted online by actress Jenna Dewan after she settled her years-long divorce dispute from former husband Channing Tatum.
Meanwhile, many fans don’t believe Kidman when she claims that photo was connected to her divorce.
“My theory is Scientology is forcing her to say this! She will never ever ruin that meme for me,” one person wrote via Reddit.
“Why’d she have to ruin it?” another said.
“No Nicole, No! Don’t take this from us!” a third person commented.
“This photo is incriminating to Nicole. She doesn’t want to be seen that way,” stated another.
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise tied the knot in 1990. They later adopted two children, son Connor and daughter Isabella. The pair eventually split in 2001 and both moved on. Kidman married Keith Urban in 2006 and welcomed daughters Sunday and Faith. Meanwhile, Cruise married actress Katie Holmes in 2006. They also share a child, daughter Suri. However, they ended their marriage in 2012.
Since their divorce, Kidman has stayed mostly tight-lipped about her relationship with Cruise. However, she has opened up about a time when they worked on the film Eyes Wide Shut together. The actress told the Los Angeles Times that director Stanley Kubrick seemed to take inspiration from her marriage with Cruise for the film. “He’d ask a lot of questions,” she admitted.
