Nintendo has today launched firmware update 14.1.0 for their handheld device the Nintendo Switch, so here’s the full list of changes and fixes with this update! Now, while the update is listed as coming out yesterday, April 4, the update didn’t debut for most until early this morning. So as such, we’re calling this an April 5 update. With that out of the way, today’s update genuinely doesn’t bring too much to the platform. The main thing if anything revolves around your unused Platinum Points, which you’ll see in a moment. Without further adieu, here’s everything new with the Nintendo Switch in its 14.1.0 firmware update!

Nintendo Switch Firmware Update 14.1.0 Patch Notes

“Platinum Point Notification Settings” has been added under Notifications in System Settings.

  • Unclaimed Platinum Points earned from completing Nintendo Switch Online missions on your Nintendo Switch system will generate notifications.
    • Nintendo Switch Online missions and rewards are not available in some countries and regions. For more information, seeย How to Complete a My Nintendo Mission.
  • Setting these notifications toย OFFย will hide the notification sent when there are unclaimed Platinum Points.

As you can see, those of you who have unused Platinum Points will be notified so you can aptly spend them. If this singular change sounds annoying, you can thankfully turn it off through your console’s Notification settings. Still, it’s nice to know when you have a few points available to spend on whatever goodies you might want.

#NintendoSwitchOnline members can now redeem their #MyNintendo Platinum Points to collect custom icons from #AnimalCrossing: New Horizons and #Splatoon 2, available until 5/1 at 6PM PT.

Icon elements will be refreshed each week. Learn more: https://t.co/y9KqdboddC pic.twitter.com/IWAeuXYYSI

While not listed here, there’s also some additional changes as seen in the Tweet above. In case you can’t see it, you can now use your Platinum Points to claim yourself a host of Animal Crossing and Splatoon-themed custom icons for your profile, further sprucing things up. It’s not a major change by any means, but a nice one nonetheless.

The Nintendo Switch is available at your favorite local or online retailer. For more information regarding this firmware update, check out the official support site.
