Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen’s son, Mingus Reedus, is facing more legal trouble after being arrested over the weekend in New York City. The 24-year-old model appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court Saturday evening, where he was formally charged with reckless physical injury, aggravated harassment, and second-degree harassment, according to court records. These charges came on top of his initial arrest earlier in the day for third-degree assault and obstruction of breathing after police responded to a 911 call about an assault in progress at a Manhattan apartment.
Authorities say the incident involved a 33-year-old woman, reportedly Mingus’ girlfriend, who was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Police sources told the New York Post that Mingus allegedly punched the woman awake, choked her, and slammed her to the ground before officers arrived.
However, the defense is offering a different account. Mingus’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, argued in court that her client was the one who called law enforcement after the woman allegedly attempted to take her own life by consuming sleeping pills, just hours after Mingus ended their five-month relationship.

Chaudhry told TMZ that the fact prosecutors only pursued “misdemeanors or less … speaks volumes, and much louder than the unsupported prosecutor’s in-court comments.” She also pointed to the judge’s decision to release Mingus on his own recognizance, with no bail or supervision, as proof of confidence in her client’s presumed innocence. “Mingus is presumed innocent and has pled not guilty,” Chaudhry added. “As the facts emerge, his innocence will become clear.”
Meanwhile, a woman identifying herself as Mingus’ girlfriend was spotted leaving the 10th Precinct hours after the arrest and told reporters the situation was a “misunderstanding,” according to the Post.
This isn’t Mingus’ first brush with the law. Back in 2021, he was arrested for allegedly punching a woman during New York City’s San Gennaro festival. He ultimately pled guilty to disorderly conduct in March 2022 and was ordered to undergo counseling.
Mingus Reedus is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday, where the case will continue. As of now, reps for Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen have not commented on their son’s latest arrest.
