Ohio Woman Creeped Out After Being Interviewed by Literal AI, ‘This is the Rudest Thing a Company Could Ever Do’

Can we get a real person, please

I’m seeing AI shoved into everything these days. From web searching to its appearance in medical tests, it’s seemingly everywhere. But for one woman in Ohio, she never suspected that a literal AI bot would be conducting her job interview. Now, she shows just how creepy and dystopian it is to live in a time where the lack of a real human interviewer can be our reality.

The TikTok video, which went viral r/TikTokCringe but was originally posted on TikTok by @its_ken04, shows a video snippet of the interview. In it, the AI interviewer “Alex” seemingly struggles to conduct the interview and glitches out, repeating itself as the OP disappointingly looks on. For those difficult-to-watch 29 seconds, it truly does feel like I’m watching an episode of Black Mirror.

It was genuinely so creepy and weird. Please stop trying to be lazy and have AI try to do YOUR JOB!!! It gave me the creeps so bad #fyp

In the caption, the TikTok user stated, “It was genuinely so creepy and weird. Please stop trying to be lazy and have AI try to do YOUR JOB!!! It gave me the creeps so bad.” Social media followers agreed that this was a whole new level of disrespect, and rightfully so.

One commenter said, “Nobody wants to work anymore, and they declined to hire a human interviewer and are actively deterring new hires by making them talk to bad AI.”

Does a company deserve you as an employee? If they can’t take the time to do a one-on-one interview, that doesn’t inspire stability. With a declining job market and lack of choices, it can be a struggle to find meaningful employment for anyone. Companies doing this clearly don’t have time for you.

One commenter reported that this is becoming a common practice in many jobs today. “I applied for a job a month ago and got an immediate phone call at like 10pm where an AI bot asked me to interview myself for the position. Guess they’ll just have to hire someone with less self-respect.”

In a hilarious reply, “I have interviewed myself and determined that I am the best fit for the position and will be giving myself a 150% higher salary than advertised due to the qualifications that I have and were confirmed by myself,” said another commenter.

All of this comes at a time when AI is growing at a disturbing rate. And not it’s starting to encroach on the workplace. To a large extent, workers fear that AI could even come for their jobs and replace them. With more events like this popping up on social media, perhaps these fears are valid.
