Sometimes, the actions that individuals engage in can have lasting consequences. You wouldn’t want these consequences to affect the future of your travel, right? Twenty-four people are learning a hard lesson and won’t be enjoying cruises any longer after a massive fight broke out. Passengers disembarking from their recent Carnival Cruise trip in Texas started throwing fists, leading to an arrest. This is why, when push comes to shove, sometimes it’s better to simply walk away.
The brawl took place in Galveston, Texas. Someone was smart enough to record the altercation, and the video circulated on Facebook. Passengers on the Carnival Cruise were getting off the ship for customs when various parties started throwing fists. In the video, you can see people quickly moving out of harm’s way. Meanwhile, security came rushing to break up the fight. Things got intense as one man was thrown to the ground, where he was punched by multiple parties.
According to officials, 21-year-old Ethan Meritt-Clark was arrested for his role in the brawl, which started when he noticed some individuals from the cruise who he “had an issue with while on the cruise.” According to Meritt-Clark, while the cruise was touring, a fight broke out in the middle of an on-board basketball game.
Initially, Meritt-Clark claimed that he was protecting himself because he was confronted in Galveston by a group of people from the basketball game, and they started to hit him. However, he later recanted this statement and admitted that he put his hands on an elderly man when the fight took place.
The elderly man who was pushed by Meritt-Clark tried to diffuse the situation before it turned into a massive ordeal and even advised him, “Don’t do what you’re about to do” to prevent things from getting serious. Because of Meritt-Clark’s actions, he is now facing charges, including a first-degree felony of injuring an elderly individual.
Carnival Cruise was not too pleased with the incident. They stated that the matter was “turned over to law enforcement” and that “24 people have been placed on our ‘Do Not Sail List‘.” This list alerts the cruise line of passengers who are banned typically for life due to egregious misconduct. For these passengers, vacation plans by ocean will definitely not be in their future.
