Once Human’s New Rainbow Sky Is Making Me Look Like a Very Disappointed Leprechaun Wanna-Be

Seriously? Nothing?

Let me preface this article by giving you a quick peek into my thoughts on rainbows and leprechauns. Never once, in all my years of life, have I looked at a rainbow and thought “I really hope there’s a whole pot of gold at the end of that thing.” However, after my first few minutes in Once Human‘s new The Way of the Winter scenario, a similar thought definitely crossed my mind.

Now, I don’t know if this happens in all of the scenario’s new map, but every once in a while a rainbow pops up, shooting across the sky and adding some color to the dreary winter sky. It’s one of those rainbows that appears so clearly and well-defined that you can actually see where the vibrant colors meet the ground on either side. Surprisingly enough, after some very thorough investigative processes, I deduced that you can literally walk into the end of the rainbow on either side of it. Wherever the ends touch down in the world, you can walk right up through the colorful display.

You see, here’s where the problem begins though. I traveled countless miles across the map to find the end of the rainbow on either side, multiple times. It was a dangerous journey through Deviant-infested lands where I also occasionally got attacked by a random buffalo that I didn’t see lying around. It wasn’t safe, I can assure you. Well, it might not have been that bad, but it sure feels like forever when you have to drive all the way across the map. (10/10 would not recommend.) Granted, popping on the in-game radio and jamming the whole way makes the trek a bit more enjoyable.

But anyway, I traveled all that way and found that there was nothing there. Some pretty colors, sure, but nothing of value. Now, I was sure this had to have been a mistake of some type at first. I mean, why shove a rainbow in your map that touches down on the ground where players can walk through it if you’re not going to do something a bit extra?

I double checked, and triple checked. I even tested it on a double rainbow. Both sides of three separate rainbows were nothing more than some visually pleasing, more colorful than normal fields, roads, and just all around basic Once Human terrain. No loot crates, no special enemies, and no Gold Ore. I feel like Starry Studio definitely missed an opportunity here, and it’s just a bit disappointing. Now, I can’t say I’m proud to admit that I was hoping for a pot of gold under the rainbow, but I was, and now here we are. No gold, no gas in my motorcycle, and a new-found distrust for pretty things in the sky.
