Voyage, the debut game from Swedish sibling duo Venturous, is out today on PC and available for purchase on Steam.

Described as a ‘cinematic adventure game,’ Voyage drops players in an alien world to trudge a pair of survivors through arresting landscapes, unearthing ruins, and unraveling mysteries, with the ultimate aim of finding a way back home. Free of combat and leveraging its hand-drawn art, Voyage uses the environment to tell its story in what Venturous calls a ‘wordless narrative.’

Voyage is a cinematic adventure game capturing the essence of shared exploration. Whether you decide to play by yourself or cooperatively, the journey will revolve around two survivors in search for answers of a long-forgotten past. Embark on a voyage, unravel a mystery and find a way home together.”

Voyage has something of Thunder Lotus Games’ enviable output, if only in its carefully curated aesthetic. There’s also a smattering of the blind exploration of Mobius Digital’s stellar Outer Wilds and the timeless blueprint for affecting video games, Journey. Whether intentional or not, the two titles share a thematic. This may point to where Venturous drew some of the inspiration for their freshman effort.

Voyage Key Features and Trailer

Venturous has provided a key feature breakdown that you can peak at just below:

Shared experience – Work alone or with a friend to guide our two survivors and explore the world of Voyage in a seamless cooperative experience.
Hand-painted – Lose yourself in Voyage‘s sprawling hand-painted environments.
Wordless narrative – Seek answers in a mysterious, wordless journey.
Non-violent – With an emphasis on exploration over violence, Voyage can be enjoyed by anyone.
Accessible controls – Customizable input methods such as keyboard, gamepad, mouse, and touch.
Immersive soundscape – Music and sound by Calum Bowen, composer for Snipperclips, Pikuniku and Lovely Planet.

Finally, for a more visual sense of what the game has to offer, here’s the launch trailer.
