ร‰tienne Trudeau, an indie developer, has revealed a new gameplay trailer for their cute pixel art adventure game Paradise Marsh during today’s Wholesome Direct event! You can also try out a demo for the Steam version of the game, which is live right now as part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest. In case you’d like to see more of the game, take a look at the new trailer below!

Bug Catching Among a Simplistic World

Paradise Marsh prides itself on being a very simplistic game. In essence, every single star in the sky has fallen to the animal-filled swampland of Paradise Marsh. Equipped with your trusty bug net, your goal is to pick up all sorts of interesting creatures and document them, alongside meeting new characters and finding interesting poems, all to try and bring back the now starless sky and restore the beauty of the lands above. This simple premise, wrapped together by the beautiful tunes of Disasterpiece, best known for the soundtracks of indie greats such as FEZ and Hyper Light Drifter!

As far as the demo is concerned, Paradise Marsh’s short gameplay segment lets you explore an endless procedural wetland for a full day and night cycle, which equates to around 15 minutes of playtime. Once it hits the next day, the game will reset and you’ll start back at the beginning. While that may sound like the end, there’s a handful of secrets to discover in that short time so be sure to replay and find what you might have missed!

Paradise Marsh joins a wide variety of games set to be part of the Steam Next Fest this following week, ranging from incredibly wholesome to violent thrill rides. No matter your tastes, you’re sure to find a few things to get excited about. Be sure to check it out on the front page of Steam on June 13 starting at 10 AM PST if you want to try some cool games.
