Today, we’re bringing good news for Persona and Phantom Thieves fans. According to the leaked trailer, Persona 5 Strikers, the hack-and-slash spinoff of Persona 5, will launch for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 23, 2021, in the west. You might be surprised at the inclusion of the PC port. However, SEGA SAMMY President and COO Haruki Satomi did say that the sales of Persona 4 Golden “were much stronger than expected”. And thanks to that, the company will continue to “actively promote porting previously released titles to Steam”. Expect more Persona and Atlus games coming over to Steam in the future. Persona 5 Royal one day, maybe?

The original trailer was published as an unlisted video on YouTube at first. And Atlus quickly took down the video. But of course, not before people all over the internet managed to grab and reupload it themselves. The Persona 5 Strikers trailer shows off the return of the Phantom Thieves along with their English voice actors, battling against a number of enemies in fast and action-packed gameplay. This isn’t surprising since this action spin-off is co-developed by Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force, known for its “infamous” Dynasty Warriors series and the recently released Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Watch the trailer below.

Persona 5 Strikers was previously released only in Japan for PS4 and Switch in February 2020. The game was originally titled Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers and is set six months after the events of Persona 5. Joker and Morgana return to Tokyo to reunite with other members of the Phantom Thieves and spend their summer vacation together on a camping trip. However, the team ends up learning that a popular phone app called EMMA enables people to be transported into a mysterious alternate world called ‘Jails’. Since it began development right after the original Persona 5 was released in Japan in September 2016, the game did not mention or reference any events that happened in the Royal expansion.
