Upcoming revival series sheds more light on Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson‘s cause of death and final struggles following his battle with Alzheimer’s. The professional hunter, who rose to fame as the older of the bearded Robertson brothers, Phil and Si, and family patriarch operating the family business, Duck Commander, has experienced a disheartening health decline in recent years, battling a series of illnesses. His family announced last December that Phil’s health had been declining for years. At the time, they attributed his condition to “some sort of blood disease,” noting that doctors believe this condition was the origin of “all kinds of medical problems” he’d been experiencing.
His family admitted that this problem has only gotten worse as the years went by, causing a lot of problems with his entire body. In the same podcast, the family disclosed that Phil had just been diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s, which, coupled with his existing ailment, left him “really struggling” healthwise. Barely six months later, Phil succumbed to his health struggles, passing away at 79. Besides previous revelations about his blood disease and Alzheimer’s, Phil Robertson’s family has not disclosed a cause of death.
Phil Robertson’s Death Confirmed After Alzheimer’s Diagnosis
In a joint Instagram post shared on Sunday, May 25, Phil’s son, Willie Robertson, and his wife Korie, revealed that the Duck Dynasty star had passed away, and “is now with the Lord.” They thanked well-wishers for their love and prayers, also expressing gratitude for his well-lived life on earth, and the legacy he’s leaving behind. Willie’s brother also shared a heartfelt tribute to their dad to bid him his final farewell.
Other family members, including Phil’s granddaughter Sadie Robertson, have also turned to social media to share heartfelt tributes, disclosing no cause of death or recent health complications beyond his Alzheimer’s diagnosis. In her post, Sadie reminisced on her time with her grandfather and his impact on her life and those around her, accompanying the post with a photo dump depicting their shared memories.
Duck Dynasty Revival Series In the Works Following Phil’s Passing
Meanwhile, Phil Robertson’s wife, Kay Robertson, has yet to break her silence about his death. However, the matriarch, like the rest of her family, has let fans in on the devastating impact of his declining health on her and the family as he struggled through his final moments. According to The Sun, Kay Robertson appeared on at least one episode of the upcoming reboot of the sitcom-like reality series titled Duck Dynasty: The Revival, which would depict the family’s struggles as they watched Phil live through his disheartening final moments following his Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
The publication revealed that while Phil Robertson does not appear in this revival series, fans will see his loved ones share their experiences and the toll it took on them. As the family patriarch, the late icon led the Robertsons’ business for years, alongside his brother Si Robertson, who has years of experience working at the Duck Commander as the crafty hands behind the reeds that go into every duck call. The 77-year-old, known as Uncle Si on the show, would also appear in the upcoming reboot, alongside the Robertson kids, as they navigate life as parents to their now-adult children, while keeping the family legacy alive. Phil is survived by his wife, five children, grandchildren, and other members of the Robertson dynasty.
