This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information.

Known for their stylistic action-games, Platinum is now journeying into the mobile world with their upcoming release of World of Demons, a samurai-based high-intensity action game for IOS and Android.

The game is part of a collaborative effort with DeNA (a la Nintendo mobile games publisher). It features highly-stylized graphics based on Japanese paintings, complete with brush strokes and an Okami-like feel. The game features samurai as its main characters, dealing with a world overrun with yokai (demons).

World of Demons main feature, battling, looks fluid and works by holding the screen. Other controls, such as dodging and other actions are initiated through various swipes and taps. The action looks great and translates well to mobile. One thing unique to this game, the 360-degree battlefield.

World of Demons

Platinum cut no corners when designing World of Demons, the game looks gorgeous for a mobile game, and the battle system works well with touch controls.

Of course, the game isn’t all sword strikes and rolling. Keeping track of offense and defense is important, and knowing what elements are weak to what will turn the tide of battle. Add on the ability to summon helper yokai, and there is quite a bit to manage when thrusting into battle.

The game will be supported with free monthly content updates and will release with a single-player campaign made up of two chapters, each with 20 missions to complete. The game will have players completing these missions before they move onto PvP and raids. Despite the new, albeit smaller platform, DeNA and Platinum have created a product worthy of its developer’s name. It looks and feels like a platinum product, and only the games summer release will tell whether it truly lives up to other games in the Platinum collection, such as Bayonetta.

World of Demons will be a free-to-play experience on Android and IOS and is set to release this summer. Although there are microtransaction, DeNA, and Platinum both reassure that microtransactions will be tied to customization options and for those who want to speed the game up.
