Talk of the PlayStation 4 NEO was heard well before E3 2016, and Sony did not address the rumors surrounding the new console during their E3 press conference. Now, though, leaked information regarding the project is leaking from left and right, and the more Sony attempts to conceal this information the quicker it seems to flow. Either the PlayStation 4 NEO is one of the worst-kept secrets in the video game industry, or there is some kind of weird marketing strategy responsible for all of this.

This past weekend, the NEO’s price, as well as its expected release date, found its way to the web thanks to an early product listing from Amazon Spain. It was quickly removed once news outlets started to get wind of this information, but not before we could see that the “intended” release date of the NEO is October 13, 2016. The retail price listed by Amazon Spain was 400 euros, which is roughly equal to 440 USD. It is worth noting, however, that the standard PlayStation 4 also launched at 400 euros in Europe, but it was still priced at 400 USD for its November 2013 North American release date. In the wake of all this news, Amazon Spain then announced that the listing was an error and the date was actually meant for the PlayStation VR. In a statement made to PC Magazine, an Amazon spokesman claimed “a poor choice of wording has led it [the date] to being misreported as NEO”…hmm, okay.

It gets better. To make matters even more spoiler-y, documents have leaked that support an October release of Sony’s new console. The first panel states, “All PlayStation 4 titles released October 2016 or later should support the original PlayStation 4 system and the NEO system.” Below is a list of PS4 NEO Internal Documents:

If the PlayStation 4 NEO is indeed gearing up for an October release, we can be expecting an official statement relatively soon.
