Zorua and Zoroark in Pokémon GO
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Like Ditto, Zorua is a Dark-type Unovan Pokémon in Pokémon GO capable of shapeshifting. While Ditto will randomly take the form of a fixed set of pocket monsters, Zorua will only appear as a Trainer’s Buddy Pokémon. For instance, if a player’s Buddy companion is a Pikachu, then Zorua will spawn in the wild as a Pikachu. However, after being captured, the Trainer will be met with an “Oh?” screen, followed by the reveal that “Zorua was caught.” Continue reading to learn how to catch Zorua in Pokémon GO and evolve it into Zoroark.

How to Get Zorua & Zoroark in Pokémon GO

Evolving Zorua into Zoroark in Pokémon GO

Zorua initially debuted during Shuppet Spotlight Hour in Pokémon GO, a live event that occurred on Tuesday, 25th October, from 6 pm to 7 pm. During this event, Zorua was able to be caught during the hour’s first and concluding five minutes. However, due to a bug that transpired regarding Zorua’s stats, this Dark-type Pokémon has been temporarily removed.

Niantic Support released the announcement of this bug via Twitter. Naturally, this news was met with much backlash from the community. No Trainer wishes to learn the existence of a new rare pocket monster only to have it taken away from them. As of writing, there are no updates regarding the situation with Zorua or Zoroark in Pokémon GO, but players should not be concerned about this issue too much as the developers will presumably carry out a fix in a timely manner. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that Shuppet Spotlight Hour will happen again for those who were unable to catch Zorua before the bug discovery. Nevertheless, it is possible for this small Dark-type fox to make a return in the near future during the ongoing Halloween festivities.

Due to Zorua’s extreme rarity, collecting Candy to evolve this elusive pocket monster into Zoroark in Pokémon GO might be a significant challenge. Luckily, those who do manage to catch multiple Zorua should not have too many issues since its evolution only costs 50 Candy. Once Zorua has evolved into Zoroark, GameInfo suggests that the best Dark-type Moveset for this evolution is Feint Attack and Foul Play. These abilities will be excellent for facing enemies that possess Ghost and Psychic-type characteristics.

Pokémon GO is available on iOS and Android.
