Goomy Evolution Stages in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Boasting one of the highest Special Defense IVs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Goodra is a top-tier Dragon-type pocket monster from the Goomy family. Goomy is a small and cute Soft Tissue Pokémon that can be found in multiple spots across the Paldea world map. The locations where Goomy appears most often are the southern parts of Paldea, specifically Areas Four, One, and Five of the South Province. According to its Habitat Description, Goomy will spawn near wetlands and ponds. Accordingly, a choice spot to search would be the ponds by the South Paldean Sea, far southwest of the Los Platos settlement.

Catching Goomy can be tricky for newer players in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This Dragon-type pocket monster can receive an Attack buff from Grass-type Moves and has a passive that debuffs its opponents that strike with physical attacks. The best way to deal with Goomy would be to use Ice- or Fairy-type Moves in combat.

Once Trainers have finally caught Goomy, they can evolve the Dragon-type Soft Tissue Pokémon into Sliggoo by having it reach Level 40. Those who have reached the postgame can farm EXP easily by taking Goomy into Area Zero and farming Chansey pocket monsters near Research Station No. 2. Those who have not unlocked access to Area Zero will need to perform the traditional leveling method of using Goomy in battles and keeping it in the active party at all times.

Next, to evolve Sliggoo into Goodra, the Goomy family member in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will need to reach Level 50. However, there is an additional prerequisite other than attaining a level milestone. According to YouTuber Quick Tips, Trainers must also ensure that Sliggoo reaches Level 50 or higher during foggy weather or a rainstorm. Of course, there is no way to predict or trigger weather variations in Paldea, so players will always need to be ready whenever the required weather type emerges. Moreover, this requirement will necessitate that players evolve their Sliggoo outside in the rain. In other words, they cannot be indoors while it is raining in the overworld to trigger Goodra’s evolution.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
