Want to know how to get Friend Balls in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Among the 27 unique Pokeballs that you can use in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Friend Balls is the one that will save you time. Of course, it doesn’t have a high chance of catching certain Pokémon like this Love Balls or Beast Balls do, but its strength lies elsewhere. If you get any Pokémon in Friend Balls, you will automatically increase its Friendship score to 150. Your new Pokémon will immediately become your true friend, and you will not have to spend time on it. But to get Friend Balls in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you must do more than walk around the Paldea region.

Where to Get Friend Balls in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

As we said earlier, you won’t be able to find Friend Balls in Paldea like Poke Balls and Ultra Balls. In addition, you will not be able to find this type of Pokeball on the shelves of in-game stores. But despite this, you can get Friend Balls in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in three ways:

  • As a reward for collecting 260 Pokémon in the Pokédex.
  • Buy at Porto Marinada Auctions.
  • As a reward for winning the Academy Ace Tournament.

All methods are good at different stages of the gameplay, so let’s talk in more detail about each.

260 Pokémon in the Pokédex

This method speaks for itself. All you have to do is find and catch 260 different Pokémon and add them to the Pokédex. Since you can find about 400 Pokémon in Paldea, you’ll have to play through more than half of the game’s story to meet this requirement. In addition, you cannot use the Auto Battle method, so finding and catching Pokemon can be protracted. But the mechanic of trading Pokemon with other trainers can help speed up this process. And once Pokemon Scarlet and Violet enter the Pokemon Home family, collecting 260 Pokemon will be easier.

Porto Marinada Auctions

The second way to get Friend Balls in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is relatively expensive but applies to all rare items. If you are willing to pay well, Porto Marinada Auctions offers players dozens of the best game items. You will probably have to save a lot of money and visit the auction more than once. However, you can speed up the process if you update the product listings several times by moving the time forward 72 minutes. Still, developers may not like such time manipulation.

Academy Ace Tournament

The first and second methods are helpful for beginner and intermediate games, but these give you a limited amount of Friend Balls. But once you complete the story of the game and defeat 8 Gym Leaders, you can enter the Academy Ace Tournament. Gather the strongest team of Pokemon, and you can get a lot of valuable rewards. Among other things, Friend Balls is in the reward pool. Moreover, unlike the previous methods, you can use this method many times and do not have to spend money.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
