As the PlayStation 5 nears release, many players and fans are curious about what titles won’t be making it to the next generation console. Amidst much of the confusion on what VR projects will and won’t be saved, Konami’s playable trailer game PT is one such game in question, and it did not make the cut.

The Hideo Kojima game, PT, has been a point of contention for many years. Created before his departure from the company towards the end of 2015, PTย has often been seen as a lost potential for a new Silent Hill title. With much of the project shifting focus to Kojima’s Death Stranding, PT was left by the wayside. The game was subsequently canceled and taken off the PlayStation store less than a year after release. Those lucky few who still have the title downloaded will be saddened to hear that it will unfortunately not be preserved. GamesRadar has reported their discussion with Konami explaining PTย will not be coming to PS5 backwards compatibility.

Unfortunately for many who have been wishing for a way to play the demo legally, there are very few options left. In fact, outside of purchasing a new console with the demo still downloaded and available, fans have to turn to fan-made remakes or other piracy tools to even access the game on original hardware. Now with no plans to bring the game to a new platform, the Silent Hill title might be left to gaming history. Despite some rumblings of a new reboot without Kojima, leaving the project on the PS4 is an indicator of the future for PT.

With some of the most interesting and deep-seated easter eggs players have found in a horror game, PTย still stands as a great demo horror experience. While unfortunate that fans will never see the title fully fleshed out, there may be some hope for the title yet. Ultimately, it’s still up to Konami to share what the fate will be of an all-new Silent Hills game.
