Digitally creating environments or characters can be divisive for actors, filmmakers, and fans. Rachel Zegler spoke about what it was like working with the CGI characters in Snow White. While it has been divisive for fans, she called it “intense” and “fun,” despite having scenes in which she is talking or singing to nothing in the Disney remake.

Disney has been unstoppable in remaking its classics with a mix of live-action and CGI like any other modern blockbuster. It has received mixed results, from the tremendous success of The Lion King to the disappointing returns from Dumbo. In 2025, one of its most popular princesses will have a chance to see if the magic can be sparked or if it will flop.

Rachel Zegler on CGI Characters When Making Snow White

On Variety’s Actors on Actors series, The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey and Rachel Zegler talked about their careers and working with CGI characters in Snow White and this year’s aquatic remake. While the West Side Story star has worked with digital components in her films like Shazam! Fury of the Gods, this time around, it was a different experience that made her “nervous.” The overall experience was “really intense” while simultaneously being “so much fun.”

There was a lot of puppetry and CGI in post. It was really intense. Thereโ€™s a lot of bloopers of me tossing a broom and letting it fall to the ground because thatโ€™s apparently how you toss things off to CGI characters. But itโ€™s so much fun!

Variety had previously asked the star about the divisive CGI dwarves. Her focus was more on being “excited” to eventually “share that movie with everyone in March 2025.” Like any Disney princess would be expected to say, she said, “Weโ€™ve got a lot of magic up our sleeve.”

The remake was helmed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) with a script penned by Barbie director Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train). Gal Gadot will also star in the film as the Evil Queen.

We were supposed to have a look at Rachel Zegler in Snow White, as the film was due in spring 2024. Due to the strikes, it was delayed to 2025.
