Unfortunately, you can nowadays find racism everywhere around you. A New York Black man had to deal with it because of his White roommate. The guy was paying half the rent and utilities for over a year, but he wasn’t on the lease. This made his roommate claim that he had no legal right to live there. The issue began when the roommate started telling him that he did him a favor by letting him move in. What is ironic is that he was the one to ask the guy, Adam, to move in in the first place. The argument reached a point where the roommate demanded that Adam leave. When Adam started filming the confrontation they had, his roommate became racist. One thing that he said was, “I let you move out of the hood.”
The racism continued as the White guy also said, “There’s a reason that they don’t let people like you live here because you can’t handle it.” This is simply disgusting. A low blow, though, was when the roommate told Adam that he doesn’t have people to back him up. He also told him mockingly “Did you lose your family?” What made such statements sickening is the fact that Adam was adopted. The disgusting comments continued in another video. “Why do you think no one is in your life anymore?” he asks. Despite being the aggressive and disrespectful one, the roommate had the audacity to set up a security camera. He didn’t even ask Adam before doing this. You realize that the guy is childish when you see how he wrote “Reclaiming control” on a whiteboard next to the camera. Thankfully, Adam found another place to live.
People Reacting to the Racist New York Man
Almost no one found that the racist New York roommate had a right to act this way. In fact, since people were disgusted with his behavior, they started doxxing him. Others also reached out to his university, workplace, and family. Before Adam announced that he found another place, everyone told him that he should leave just for his safety. “get away from that guy bro,” one man advised Adam. Others from the Black community started saying that all White people act just like the roommate. “‘The hood’, ‘people like you’, ‘you don’t have a credit score’. This is what they think of us, believe them,” one person wrote. A Black woman also said, “‘I let you move out the hood??’ Ooo lord I’m tired.” No one should be treated like this.
The comments defending Adam kept coming in. “Racism is just jealousy and fear,” someone wrote. Another person agreed as they said, “You can tell he’s scared.” I mean, if the guy set up a security camera, then he was definitely scared of Adam. A lot of people also encouraged Adam to start a GoFundMe. “START A GOFUNDME. Let your people help you f him! He thinks you can’t survive without him, let’s show him what our community does for EACH OTHER! Start it ASAP,” one woman said. He ended up doing just that. Currently, Adam has raised $3,361 out of a $4.5K goal. Hopefully, he won’t need to come across any more racist people.
