After two days of teaser tweets, Rockstar Games confirms information that fans have been waiting six years to hear. Red Dead Redemption 2 was officially announced this morning on the developer’s twitter account, with the following information accompanying it’s site post.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release worldwide in Fall 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems.

An epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.

Watch the Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer at 11AM Eastern on Thursday, October 20th at rockstargames.com, as well at the official Rockstar Games YouTube and Twitch pages.

The developer posted the picture above this morning unannounced,  in a similar fashion to the two images that garnered speculation for the announcement, While the questions of the trailer and release date – and more importantly the fact that the game is being made – fans are starting to predict the identity of the sequels possible main character(s).

It’s unclear the type of protagonist the next game will offer, as the first two follow completely different mindsets, one looking for revenge for his father and the other just trying to outrun the demons of his past. Speculation runs rampant, surmising it could be anyone from Jack Marston to Red Harlow.

Considering Rockstars previous game, GTA V, it could even end up being multiple main characters with different perspective and affiliations. While the seven figures that appear in the reveal image may have bearing on the story, it’s no telltale sign that any of them are the game’s main character.

We won’t have to wait long for an answer to those questions, as the games trailer is only two days away. Are you excited for it as I am? Who do you think the Protagonist(s) will be? Feel free to let us know in the comments below!
