Remedy Plans to ‘Double Revenue by 2027’ After Alan Wake 2 Success & Steady Max Payne Remake Progress

No bitter taste for this kind of remedy

2024 has been quite a difficult year for many AAA video games, but Remedy Entertainment and its games are seeing their own success. The self-published studio has recently publicized its plans and financial statements where they revealed a promising trajectory for growth and future games. Remedy thus has plenty in store for Control, Alan Wake, and Max Payne fans.

The news came directly from Remedy’s website where they typically publish their financial statements every year. One of the key contributors to Remedy’s success is the belated horror sequel, Alan Wake 2, which has sold 2 million units worldwide and is now starting to generate royalties for the studio.

With that in mind, Remedy also has updates for its upcoming titles. Control 2 has entered its full production stage and will scale up further in production. FBC: Firebreak, the multiplayer shooter, is still on track to be released in 2025. And finally, Max Payne 1&2 Remake is chugging along nicely, with the development team meeting their objectives in conjunction with publisher Rockstar Games.

Big Plans for 2027

Now, we’re not saying that Remedy could be planning to release Max Payne 1&2 Remake or Control 2 in 2027, but the studio has also stated that it plans to double its 2024 revenue in 2027. Being a video game developer, well, the logical way to do that is to release games, of course.

“By 2027 we aim to double our 2024 revenue with an EBITDA margin of 30%. 2025 will mark the start of a new growth era for us,” according to Remedy’s financial statement.

So there’s a chance that either one of those aforementioned Remedy titles (Max Payne or Control) could be slated for 2027. There’s a higher possibility for Max Payne 1&2 Remake here since Control 2 might need more time. Some estimates peg the Max Payne 1&2 Remake by the end of 2026 at the earliest.

Other than planning to double its revenue by 2027, Remedy also has plans to become a “highly regarded creative studio with sustainable, significant commercial success”. It seems vague but Remedy could very well be aiming for AAA status and success on the same level as Blizzard Entertainment, CD Projekt RED, or other industry trendsetters (regardless of whether former or current).

It also seems that Remedy’s projection for growth depends not just on the Max Payne remake but also on their upcoming FBC: Firebreak slated for 2025. Still, some in the gaming community are worried about FBC: Firebreak as it could face the same difficulties as Concord. FBC Firebreak is multiplayer shooter and is a mid-priced online game in a genre dominated by free-to-play titles.
