Resident Evil is kind of a big deal. The long-running franchise had seen a bit of a resurgence as of late that started when Resident Evil 7 was released in 2017. Since then, Capcom has treated us to a couple of pretty good remakes with promises of more games on the way.

To celebrate the recent release of Resident Evil 3, the folks over at Steamforged games launched a Kickstarter project yesterday with the hopes of making a board game based on part 3. In order to see the project come to fruition, they needed to receive £150,000 in pledges by May 13th.

They smashed this target almost instantly. A mere 24 hours later, the amount pledged sits at £315,487 and rising with every passing second. By the time you look, that figure will have changed drastically. Thankfully, there are stretch goals.

You may remember that Steamforged released a similar board game a few years back based on Resi 2. They are back and have taken on feedback with a playing board that’s said to be a bit lighter and easier to see this time.

Resident Evil 3: The Board Game will be playable with 1-4 players who will be tasked with exploring Raccoon city, finding items, and ultimately making an escape. Each game session is said to last between 90-120 minutes and is suitable for players aged 14 and up.

I would tell you more based on my experiences with the last board game, however, that has stayed in the box along with the countless add-ons I purchased, because it’s pretty.

Should you wish to back this project, you can do so here. Currently, a number of stretch goals have already been unlocked including, a couple of Kickstarter exclusive Jill Vallentine figures, a retro pack, higher difficulty levels, and a dice pack.

I won’t list all of the goals as you should go and look at them for yourself.

Resident Evil 3: The Board Game looks pretty nice, and I’m certainly keen to get some tabletop versions of my favorite characters. Despite not trying the previous game, I am very interested in this one, I have heard that the first game was pretty fun.

Let us know in the comments if you plan to back this project and make sure to do so by May 13th if you want any of the Kickstarter exclusives. Steamforged games seem to release their games whenever they want so that I won’t give you an expected shipping date, but I’m sure it’ll all be worth the wait when the mailman finally shows up.
