A new roguelike deck-builder by Richard Garfield, creator of Magic: The Gathering, is coming to gaming platforms near you! Nacon and Abrakam Entertainment have announced that Roguebook is releasing on June 24 via Steam!

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions will be launching at a later date. Pre-orders for PC players are open on the official Roguebook website. A Deluxe Edition includes a digital soundtrack, a digital artbook, the “Apex Predator Pack, the “Alternative Art Pack,” and 48-hour early access. The standard edition will include the “Hero Skin Pack.”

A PC demo is currently available on Steam and will run from February 3 through to February 9.

About Roguebook

The official Steam page summarizes the backstory of the game:

The ancients speak of a Book written since time immemorial containing all the world’s legends. After many fabulous adventures, recounted in Faeria – Chronicles of Gagana, this relic was lost in a well of Faeria. Through contact with this source of magic, the Book developed a wicked free will of its own and became the Roguebook!”

Heroes

At the start of the game, players will get to choose two heroes. Each hero will have 50 cards, a relic, and a special skill tree. Players will have to decide which hero is at the front and which hero is at the back. The front hero will have to protect the one in the back. Both players will have to strategize and experiment to figure out an optimal positioning for their chosen heroes.

Build Your Deck as You Play

In Roguebook, there are over 200 cards to build a deck out of. You can also upgrade your cards with 30 special gems. Also, there are 80 relics with unique effects. Remember, each hero has their own unique skill tree, so collect the cards and choose the best skills.

A Changing World

The map, along with its contents, is procedurally generated. This means that every-time you play, you will encounter something different.

Roguebook will have 20 difficulty levels. Each level will grant you access to new relics, gems, and encounters.

Magic: The Gathering players, what do you think about Roguebook? Do you welcome new mechanics and concepts in the world of card games? Let me know in the comments below!
