Rumer Willis is facing life as a single mom after her split from boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas. The actress announced their split during a recent Q&A on her Instagram. When one user inquired if the couple was still together, Willis replied, “Nope I am single momming and co-parenting.” The actress then wrote that she was “grateful” for her daughter Lou. “She is the best thing in my life and I am forever grateful I was able to have the time in that relationship for her to come into my life.”
Willis and Thomas first went public with their relationship in 2022. In December of that year, the couple announced they were expecting. Their daughter Louetta Isley was born in April 2023. Now, a year after welcoming baby, the couple have gone their separate ways.
The two seem to be keeping things amicable, much like Rumer’s parents Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. While the Empire actress is holding up well, deep down she’s going through a challenging time.

Going through a breakup is difficult, it’s even tougher when there’s a child involved. While Rumer is committed to doing what’s best for her, Lou, and Derek; things aren’t easy. As source tells Life & Style that “Rumer has handled it all in a very classy way, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t sad for her.”
Rumer and Derek seemed like a perfect couple, they realized over time it wasn’t going to work out.
It came as a bit of a shock to people because only a few months ago things seemed to be going so well between her and Derek.
But she’s now telling people it just wasn’t meant to be, that they gave it their best and they realized they’re better off as co-parents because the last thing they want to do is try and force it.
The source says that Rumer is “disappointed” over the breakup and is “going through all those emotions.”
But the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star can rely on her family for support. Her mother, Demi, stepmother Emma Heming Willis, and sisters Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, and Evelyn rally around her.
They’re all going out of their way to help her, and Demi, especially, is there at the drop of a hat to help out.
Spending time with her father Bruce has also been beneficial for both father and daughter. The Die Hard actor, who is battling frontotemporal dementia, lights up when he sees his granddaughter.
Rumer is also spending plenty of time with her dad, one thing that really makes him smile is when he gets to see the baby, so in his own way, Bruce is helping too.
