Regarding the possible upcoming Apple event in March, there have been many rumors. After all, signs pointed to the Apple Watch 2 being unveiled in March, with a release date in April, many people suspected that the March event would be centered around the next-gen Watch. However, a recent report by TechCrunch suggests that it may not happen so soon.
Writer Matthew Panzarino reports,
“Several things that I’ve heard (from several sources) indicate to me that we won’t see a major new hardware model of the Apple Watch in March. Design partnerships, accessories, that kind of thing maybe but not a ‘Watch 2.0’ with a bunch of new hardware features. I could be wrong, of course, but I’ve heard enough to put it out there.”
Panzarino cited a conversation with Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin, where he learned that the Apple supply chain shows no signs of getting ready to release the new product anytime soon.
A delay in the Apple Watch 2 might be more beneficial to everyone since pushing the product out too early could hurt sales of the Watch as a whole. Panzarino also updated his post, saying he has heard that the Apple event in March may include an update to the current Apple Watch, with features like a FaceTime camera added. The March event is also rumored to include a new iPad or iPhone unveiling.
There are still a lot of questions in the works about the Apple Watch and its refresh cycle; however, we may not get any solid answers anytime soon.
