Sex and the City fans were thrilled when a spin-off show titled And Just Like That was announced. However, after three seasons, the HBO sequel has been axed, and Sarah Jessica Parker reportedly isn’t happy about. In fact, she was willing to swallow her pride in hopes of keeping the show alive. Sadly, it seems that those hopes have been dashed, and it’s all because of her former co-star Kim Cattrall.
According to ShuterScoop, Sarah Jessica Parker wasn’t happy about having to end And Just Like That. She wanted the show to go on so much that she was willing to try to make peace with her former co-star, Kim Cattrall, who played fan-favorite character Samantha Jones on Sex and the City. While Samantha made a quick on-phone cameo in the sequel series, the actress wasn’t willing to return to help save the show.
HBO allegedly went all out trying to keep the show afloat. Before it was announced that And Just Like That would be ending after Season 3, the network reached out to Cattrall in hopes of bringing Samantha Jones back to spice things up. They allegedly offered the actress a full character arc and a big paycheck. Parker was even willing to make peace and put their previous feud behind them. However, Cattrall refused.
Sarah Jessica Parker Wanted Kim Cattrall Back On And Just Like That

“She was their last shot,” one insider dished. “They offered everything. But Kim wasn’t having it.”
Cattrall has made it very clear that she’s not interested in reprising the iconic role that made fans fall in love with her. While Kim may have a fond spot in her heart for the character of Samantha, it looks like she couldn’t be bought.
Fans would have likely loved to see Samantha Jones back in action, especially since the show has been under heavy fan criticism for cringy writing, stale storylines, and out-of-character behavior for Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and the rest of the gang.
Samantha was often the comic relief on the show. She was also known for being a sex-positive character who laid it all out there and was unapologetic about her thoughts, feelings, and actions. For many, she was the backbone of the show.
However, without Samantha’s presence on And Just Like That, the show has been falling flat. Much of the magic of Sex and the City was the core four women’s chemistry and dynamic together as best friends. Taking Kim Cattrall out of the equation just wasn’t working, and it seems like Sarah Jessica Parker may have realized it as well.
