This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Zeekerss’ mysterious sci-fi horror hit continues to dominate the Steam Charts, and it’s easy to see why. From its chilling atmosphere and lack of hand-holding to its plethora of nasty monstrosities that want to bite your face off, there are plenty of terrors to hide from in Lethal Company. Clearly, the stars of the show are the creepy beasties at the heart of it all. So, we’re gonna run down the 10 scariest monsters in Lethal Company. Let’s go!

10. Eyeless Dog

On paper, an eyeless doggo doesn’t exactly sound like the scariest monster in the world. After all, they’re one of the most popular pets ever, right? But, you’d be wrong as Lethal Company twists the notion of a cute doggy into a giant nightmarish canine with jaws the size of a small house.

Thankfully, as you probably guessed, its lack of eyes means its eyesight isn’t quite up to snuff, so you can sneak past these oversized pooches if you have the courage. Still, bumping into one when you’re wandering outside at night can be a shock, and they can run surprisingly fast once they’ve got a bead on you. Anyone got a stick I can throw by chance? No? Oh, brother…

9. Jester

Oh, look, a cute jack-in-the-box with legs! Can I keep it, mummy? Sure, you can keep it… if you want to be EATEN ALIVE by an EVIL SKELETON MONSTER! Not so adorable now, huh? Indeed, while this wee critter may look as cute as a button, don’t be fooled!

During its first phase, the Jester can be seen ambling around aimlessly like a lager lout at closing time. As it winds up its playbox to the tune of Pop Goes the Weasel, it’ll soon transition into its second phase where things start to get real. Basically, a giant skull will explode out of its package and will proceed to feast on the flesh of the closest living meal: You. Our advice? As soon as you lay your eyes on this cheeky fella, make a run for the nearest exit. Seriously, you’ll thank us later.

8. Snare Flea

As a general rule of thumb, creepy-crawlies bigger than your hand are legit nightmare fuel. I mean, even when they’re small, they can still give me the heebie-jeebies. But when they’re bigger than a freshly-basted Thanksgiving turkey? Oh, man, somebody hold me…

These giant bugs love to stick to dark ceilings and pounce on their unassuming prey as they nonchalantly pass by below them. Interestingly, they don’t really bite per se but clamp around their victim’s head leading to suffocation. If you see a teammate who’s been unlucky enough to have a Snare Flea make a home on their noggin, give it a whack with a shovel or a stop sign and you may just save their life.

7. Sandworm

If you’ve ever seen the movies Tremors or Dune, you’ll know what to expect when it comes to the ol’ Sandworm, aka the Earth Leviathan. Yes, much like the giant wigglers at the heart of those classic sci-fi flicks, the Sandworm is a colossal subterranean earthworm that hunts its prey by utilizing its keen sense of vibrations.

There’s not much you can do to keep a Sandworm at bay, as they’re highly resistant to damage and move incredibly quickly. Really, if you’re unlucky enough to see one, your best bet is to book it to the nearest safe zone, like the entrance to a dungeon or your spaceship. Amazingly, they’ve been known to devour Forest Keepers. Speaking of which…

6. Forest Keeper

Forest Keepers are gigantic humanoid-like creatures who are extremely resistant to damage. They’re commonly found across many moons, and they mostly come out at night. Much of the time, this beast will try to ambush you on your way back to your ship after you’ve finished your plundering.

While your ship is a safe zone from these pesky monstrosities, be careful as Forest Keepers can still reach into the ship’s open doorway and squeeze the life out of any unsuspecting crew. Interestingly, they occasionally spawn with an Eyeless Dog in tow, which is kind of adorable when you think about it.

5. Coil Head

Part mannequin and part radioactive biological weapon of war, the Coil-Head is one of the more peculiar creatures you’ll encounter in Lethal Company. See, as long as someone is actually staring at the hideous dummy, it won’t be able to actually murder you.

The thing is, though, take your eyes off Coil-Head for a second and it can move at surprising speeds toward a player, killing them in one hit. As a result, it’s important to communicate with your team and make sure one of you is actively keeping an eye on this pesky critter. Of course, that plan is solid… until you realize there are other monsters lurking in the shadows with you.

4. Bunker Spider

They say that people are acutely afraid of spiders because they’re so far removed from humans biologically. And while that may ring true, it doesn’t give us a lick of comfort when we come face-to-face with an eight-legged freak the size of Shelob in those Lord of the Rings movies.

As expected, disturbing any nearby webs will provoke the giant arachnid, so keep that in mind as you explore. Thankfully, Bunker Spiders can be defeated with five or six swings of a well-aimed shovel, though you’ll need to get pretty close to the critter to do this, which is where it can be at its most deadly.

3. Thumper

Thumpers, aka Halves, appear much like horrific Frankenstein-esque monsters that were cobbled together with both human and shark DNA. With the head of a Great White and the oversized arms of a giant, these otherworldly beings are so unique they even have their own birthing ritual, which is unusual, to say the least.

Essentially, they’re born into an egg but must devour their own legs in order to escape from the shell. What a way to live, eh? Sure, while you may be able to whack a Thumper three or four times and kill it, getting up close and personal is a dicey affair. Not only is a Thumper super fast, but they’re also incredibly vicious. Our top tip? Keep running and keep taking turns, as Thumpers aren’t the best at maneuvering around corners.

2. Bracken

The Bracken looks almost identical to the Black Frost monster from the cult UK comedy series, The Mighty Boosh. From its black bipedal design to the spiky barbs protruding from its body to its glowing eyes, this chap is a nasty brute who drags its victims away to feast on them.

Interestingly, you’ll often come across the Bracken when you’re wandering around in pitch-black darkness as their gleaming eyes are hard to miss. Trouble is, if you stare at those peepers for four or five seconds, that’s too long and you’ll be next on its menu. As a result, as soon as you see a pair of eyeballs in the darkness, get the hell out of there!

1. Ghost Girl

There’s an unwritten rule in horror: creepy-looking kids make everything scarier. And from the looks of things, Zeekerss got the memo, as the most terrifying monster you’ll meet in Lethal Company is a young lass with a penchant for murder. There are actually a few reasons why the Ghost Girl is so profoundly horrifying.

Firstly, she doesn’t go in straight for the kill but instead haunts her prey in a playful, child-like way before slaughtering them. Pretty creepy, huh? But that’s not all, folks. Secondly, only the player she’s haunting can actually see her, meaning that your teammates will largely be unable to help you in any shape or form. Lastly, she’s invulnerable to damage, so the only real solution is to… RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

Suffice it to say, my therapist knows all about her. *weeps*
