In this day and age, nothing usually remains private anymore; even you and your circle likely have their data being sold in bulk somewhere to state agencies such as the CIA or FBI. Speaking of which, the FBI has decided to take that concern up a notch because it’s not just leveraging digital info, and now secretly acquires sperm from a Seattle sperm bank in Washington without the knowledge of donors.
The concerning admission for this whole messy affair came from an actual representative of the Seattle Sperm Bank. Turns out the sperm bank has been selling unused sperm vials to the FBI. As for why the FBI needs these sperm vials, they’re for “splash pattern” research, apparently. Yes. They are splashing these sperm vials to see their splat pattern, according to the leaker, General Supervisor Angelo Allard of Seattle Sperm Bank.
Sources such as donor-conceived Laura High have stated that Allard allegedly revealed the FBI’s transactions with the Seattle Sperm Bank, which happened as far back as October 2022, at the California Cryobank campus in Los Angeles.
It’s worth noting that the 2022 conference was launched for donor-conceived groups to have a proper dialogue with sperm banks about how to regulate the spread of their DNA. Tighter laws apparently need to be put in place because some of the donor-conceived individuals are likely having trouble spotting their siblings or anyone related to them.
Another issue with the matter was how these sperm banks used their leftover vials, which led to the discussion of what exactly the Seattle Sperm Bank did with its leftover sperm. Seattle Sperm Bank back then insisted that the donors knew that they would be selling sperm to the FBI.
The Donors Didn’t Know Where Their Sperm Would Go
After Seattle Sperm Bank’s admission in 2022, donor-conceived investigators such as Laura High have done their own snooping. She even managed to locate a couple of donors. Laura then found out that the contracts signed by these donors did not mention anything about the sale of their leftover sperm vials to the FBI.
Laura High has since reached out to several publications, such as LGBTQNation, which then reached out to the Seattle Sperm Bank and the FBI about the lack of an apparent consent clause for selling sperm to the FBI in their contracts. So far, the sperm bank and the FBI haven’t commented on the matter or outright refused to comment.
Regardless of what the truth is, a government agency controlling reproductive genetic material is a terrifying idea, as it can be used to frame up innocent people or even track the genetics of members of the LGBTQ community. Some comments have joked on the matter, others are unsurprised, while there are also those who have grown more wary of the current administration.
