The internet entrepreneur recently revealed he had undergone surgery to remove half of the “suspicious nodules” on his thyroid. He shared the health update on Instagram alongside three pictures depicting the past weeks.ย
The first snap was a close-up selfie of Ohanian making a goofy face while lying on a hospital bed. The image appeared to be a post-surgery snap as he donned the facility’s gown and hair net. A closer inspection revealed a small red scar on his throat, presumably where an incision was made during his operation. The other pictures captured the Reddit co-founder’s adorable family, with one image showing him on a carousel.
He enjoyed the ride with his youngest daughter, Adira. Meanwhile, his oldest daughter, Olympia, posed with a helmet in the final slide. The proud father of two explained in the post’s caption that the sweet moment with his daughters occurred post-surgery. He took his girls for a fun time at Disney World sometime this week.
Ohanian was grateful to be alive, noting he had been tracking the thyroid nodules for the last four years. These nodules significantly bothered Ohanian, especially when they got bigger, and a biopsy revealed they would likely turn cancerous. His mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 41, his current age. However, she died from brain cancer about a decade later, leaving him with a bitter hatred for cancer. Ohanian penned:
“I wasn’t gonna take any chances. The surgery was smooth, and I’m extra grateful this Thanksgiving because I got the call this morning that my now-removed-half-of-thyroid was indeed full of some gnarly nodules that were very likely to become cancerous.”
The entrepreneur claimed the worst part about the situation was being unable to lift weights at the gym. However, he noted he would return to it next week before advising men to prioritize their health. “Make those doctor’s appointments, especially if y’all are dads. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone,” he concluded.
